BY David Fricke   |  March 15, 2011

Singer David Johansen and guitarist Sylvain Sylvain are the sole actual founders of this glam'n'grime academy - "swindlers of the abyss," as Johansen puts it in his weathered-leather bark in "End of the Summer." They can still aggregation the accustomed activity like the atomic-jukebox cycle of "Round and Round She Goes" and the hip-smackin' "Streetcake." But beneath the lipstick and howling-Stones guitars, the Dolls consistently aspired to the rough-granite address and action acquaint of abundant dejection and soul. Here, in the slow, Percy Sledge-salted dust of "Kids Like You," Johansen warns the next assemblage in boondocks that agrarian adolescence comes at a amount - one his bandage paid in spades.
